Brief Description:  Door Sill Edging

This is the last step in finishing the interior. The door sill edging helps to retain the edges of the carpet and protect it against abrasion from shoes while entering and exiting the cabin. I coated the aluminum edging with truck bed liner before installing it and then touched up the pop rivets with the same material. Once the edging is in place I can start taking measurements for making the doors.

The interior guy gave me a good tip that's useful if you need to drill into a carpeted area. Mark the areas to be drilled first (I used masking tape under the edging and then marked each hole with a felt-tip marker). The next step is to cut away the carpet nap in that area before drilling. A sharp utility knife works well to remove a small area around each hole location. Failure to do so may result in the drill bit catching a carpet strand and it may unravel the nap well beyond where you intended to drill.
