Brief Description: Lever for Ground Handling Wheels
Before you get the main transmission, engine, interior and full fuel tanks installed the ground wheels are pretty easy to place into the raised position by using the short handles. It's a different story when the helicopter is heavier.
The lever is 4130 heavy walled tubing with another 6" piece welded into the end. I made two brackets to support it on the co-pilots side. One bracket is nothing more than an angle with a wire bundle bushing in the top for the lever to slide thru and the other has a pointed post with a hole in it for the locking pin.
The hand grip is thick adhesive-lined shrink tube. The end of the lever was turned down (actually sanded carefully with a belt sander since I don't have a lathe) so as to fit into the wheel handle. The end was then coated with Perma-Slik G dry lube since a coat of paint would make it too thick.
The additional leverage makes it very easy to get the machine up off it's skids.
