Brief Description:  Covering the Anti-torque Pedals

I took a short recess from the wiring this morning.

I have looked all over for an appropriate cover for the pedals. I've checked into all sorts of motorcycle and bicycle grips but none seem to look right or they were the wrong size. I suppose that you could just leave them bare but I can imagine how slick they would be with wet boots.

I decided to try the extra heavy duty adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing that I used on the battery cables. I cut the tubing about 1/2 inch longer than the pedal. During shrinking, a "nipple" will form over the end. While the tubing is still hot, force this into the inside diameter of the pedal to cover the end (photo 2 below). The result was a nice looking pedal that appears to have been plastic dipped. The thick shrink material should stand up to abuse and the adhesive liner will secure it to the pedal. I found this 3:1 shrink tubing at McMaster-Carr. It's about .75" before it's shrunk.
