Brief Description:  Installed Cabin Sheetmetal

After I had installed most of the frame nutplates I remembered that there are several locations on the sheet metal parts that require nutplates. In order to determine their locations, I had to reinstall all of the cabin pieces. On thinner gauge metal, the micro-adjustable countersink is not the best choice. It removes too much "meat" and leaves little reinforcement for the rivet head. I'm awaiting a dimple set for my rivet squeezer from Aircraft Spruce before I can complete this phase.UPDATE: Bill gave me a tip that allows the use of the standard countersink tool on thinner gauge metal. The trick is to drill a #40 pilot hole in a piece of wood and use this pilot hole under your sheet metal piece to guide the countersink bit. I used this technique on .032" metal. On anything thinner than this, you may need to use a dimple set.
