Brief Description:  Finishing of Frame

I went to pickup the frame from the powder coater Friday afternoon. I had the frame done with high gloss bright white polyester powder coat material. I was impresssed with the smooth shiny finish. The frame was prepared by sand blasting then given a light coat of primer just prior to powder coating. Be advised that the factory does not recommend powder coating due to the fact that it can be extremely difficult to repair if damaged. I chose powder mainly due to the difficulties that other builders have experienced trying to get a decent paint finish free from overspray, orange peel, etc. Powder is also much more durable than a painted finish. There are a two small light areas that I will need to touch up with a polyurethane topcoat. For those of you interested, the color matches FED-STD-595 color chip # 17925 (Air Force untinted white 90% gloss).
