The construction prints show an end cap at the end of the stabilizer as a builder option, but there are no directions on how to fab one. I ended up making the cap about 2" longer than the stab is wide. I used a 2.5" diameter circle on the front and a 3/4" circle at the rear when making the pattern. The cap is cut from .063 6061 alum. I used .032" material to make the two small brackets that hold the end cap to the stabilizer. The rear bracket was formed with one side taller to conform to the shape of the airfoil. After the parts have been alodined and primed, I will apply sealant around the end of the stabilizer where it contacts the end cap and then apply the topcoat. I will also drill two small drain holes at the end of the stab to facilitate drainage of any trapped water.
