There seems to be a lot of different variations on the way builders construct these panels. I've seen some ships where the top of the covers extend the same height as the top of the outside cheek panels, completely covering the fastners on the door hinge. I've also seen Safari's where the builder chose to omit the covers entirely. I chose to fabricate and install them due to the fact that they seem to stiffen up this area and they provide a more finished look to the cab. I used a thin slot cut into a piece of hardwood to form the front edge. The other bends were performed with a brake.
