Brief Description:  Seat Construction

This was a very productive day. The first thing on the agenda was to cleco in place the seat hinge. After securing the hinge at several points, I took measurements for the templates for the individual seats. Use care when forming the bend in the seat bottom. The angle will be something less than 90 degrees. It's much easier to sneek up on the bend slowly than to try to relax the bend if you over do it. I placed rivet locations at 2" centers along the hinge. The construction manual appears to use a larger hinge that what was supplied with the kit, so I wanted to be sure the support was there. After I had the seat bottoms fastened to the hinges, I marked the hinge for cutting. Be sure to stake each end of the hinge after cutting to help retain the hinge pins. I wasn't sure of how much overhang to leave at the seat fronts. I ended up leaving 1 1/2". If there is an issue with the cyclic clearance I will trim to size later. I plan to install curved cyclic sticks, so this may not be a problem.
