Brief Description:  Finishing the leading edge and the rudder is done

Today I finished the rudder. First, I used a pipe and taped it to the leading edge of each skin with gorrilla tape. Then with a vice grip I rolled the leading inboard to give the leading edge skins enough of a radius of curvature so that both skin leading edges would meet in the middle. You couldn't just pull them down as this would cause the skins to bend at the spar edge and leave an ugly angled crease. Once properly rolled, these where then clecoed together. Then I pop riveted each hole. My daughter Angella helped today by place and removing the clecoes for me. I had to drill the holes out to #30 drill bit for the pop rivet that the plans called for. So I did this one at a time while pop riveting the structure together. The final product came out pretty good.

I then placed the hinge bolts in and screwed them in to the required distance on the plans then locked them in place with the Jamnut.

Voila, rudder is done!

Called it a day.
