Brief Description:  Alodined the stiffners

Today I took the day off to fly the piper down to Brainerd to have my Avionics Guy work on the autopilot. My glidescope coupler was not working and I needed to get this fixed before the trip to Florida.

The other plus with going to brainerd was that I found an auto paint supply that had alodine and alumaprep. I took the courtesy car from the airport and went to get my supplies. I could have ordered this stuff from Aircraft spruce but the stuff is HAZMAT and the freight charge is as much as the frickin chemicals. Another, beautifull example of government saving us from keeping money in our wallets. Scum bags. Anyways, by the time I got home I only had time to alodine the stiffiners. I could not alodine the inside of the skins because it started to rain outside. I tried two ways the dipping method and brushing it on with sponge brushes. I don't like the dipping method. If you wait to long then the aluminum really gets dark. Almost brown, rather than the golden color that you want to see. So, I brushed it on waited a 2 min and rinsed. I think you will be able to tell from the pic which ones were dipped.

Anyways, called it day after this. I will alodine the skins tommorrow, weather permitting. As this stuff is very toxic/carcinogenic and should be done outside.
