Brief Description: AA-188 Lower Rudder Hinge Rivet Length
On December 4th 2018 Rans issued an Assembly Alert (AA-188) regarding the grip length of the four 3/16 stainless steel rivets (CCPQ-66) holding the lower rudder hinge to the vertical stabilizer. They sent out a replacement (CCPQ-68) to rectify this. They were received on January 16th 2019 but having already built this part I used a number #11 drill bit to carefully remove the heads of all four rivets, once they were off I wiggled the hinges clear and used a centre punch to push the rivet body inside the stabilizer. After inspection of the holes there was no damage found and the new rivets were installed.
