Brief Description:  Drilled Holes for Wing Fold Lock, Ran Strobe Wirin

Derek 11.0 Phil 11.0

Saturday morning after breakfast at Jalisco's we started by having to undo some of our previous work due to misalignment of holes in the wing lock system. Removed one of the rear spar doublers where the locking pin goes through. We had drilled that before it was time. After replacing with a new time and lowering the wing in place, it was pretty easy job of drilling the proper hole. The locking pins now slide easily into place with little effort yet tight and no play around the pins.

Also in preperation for closing up the wings, we ran the wires for the tip strobe lights out to the wing tip area through some lightweight Split Loom conduit from the aviation department of CarQuest. Worked perfectly by drilling some pilot holes through the ribs and then up drilling with the step drill. Protects the wire and makes a very neat installation. There is a concern with the folding of the wing pinching the wires so we got a couple of light springs from Lowe's and with a zip tie made a tension retrataction apparatus. The spring actually pulls the excess wire back into the wing through the lightning hole as the outboard wing is lowered. Seems to work perfectly!

Riveted the bottom skins to the outboard wings.

Ended the day with a great Pizza from Sam's club!
