Brief Description: Inboard Wing tip Bolts / Final Attach Empenage
Derek 6.5 Phil 5.5. Derek sorted and stored new hardware from wicks. Finished installing the contersunk bolts that go in the steel plates where the fold happens. We then proceeded to final attach the empenage. Placed the VS in position for drilling. Snugged down the HS. Used holes for drill guide but had problems with them not lining up with the existing nutplates when the VS was put in what we felt was the proper alignment. To fix the situation, we aligned the VS and drilled two new bolt holes between the existing center and outboard holes and bolted the VS using them with AN4-10A's. With these holding the VS in place, we then removed the nutplates and installed AN4-10A's through those holes so now we have 5 bolts holding the VS in place. Overbuilt to begin with but really beefy now!
