Brief Description:  Gas Tank/Windshield/Panel

Worked today 8am to 8pm. Had a long day of fitting and slow progress.

We installed a 1'1/2" standoff for the rado so that the radio will come forward enough to clear the gas tank. Worked perfectly. After getting the radio installed we reinstalled the gas tank for hopefully the final time. Installed the Glareshield over the gas tank to hold it in place. An incredibly tight fit. After finally getting that fit and riveted we had to put in some nuts with screws. That meant one of us having to work upside down in the cockpit to get the nut started while one person operated the screwdriver up top. That also took several hours to just a couple that way. Again hope we don't have to undo this for any reason. The panel also fit very snuggly up under the glare shield and was riveted in place. We fabricated a small piece of angle and riveted it up under the transponder mounting bracket to hold it steady and at the right angle. Installed the windshield. Not too difficult but there was a gap or two in front. That will take some adjusting. Fabricated the Gas Cap Cover and installed. Looks great. What a really long day! Things are moving so slow now. Also not looking cooperative for the next few weekends due to other obligations outside the workshop.
