Brief Description:  Engine Air Filter - Pt 3

After some thought, I am concerned the filter housing made from fiberglass would be too flimsy unless I added a lot of reinforcement (i.e. many more layers of glass). I did play with the current section until I obtained the profile I liked and the fuel servo inlet is centered on the air filter itself.

At this moment, I am debating if I should go back to the aluminum housing and cut tabs along the sides to accomodate the curves of the cowling. These tabs would also serve as attach points to the cowling. To accomplish this and to provide the cleanest look, I would need to drop the filter housing down through the cowling with the tabs located on the inside.

The filter itself will be installed from the front of the housing and supported by "L" angles riveted to the filter housing. There will be another set of "L" angles nesting on the forward face of the filter to retain it in place and these will be screwed into the sides of the filter housing.

The last challange I need to overcome will be the transition from the filter housing down to the fuel servo with provisions for ALT AIR.
