Brief Description: Fabricated and drilled FL706A,B flap actuting part
Today, I fabricated and drilled the FL706 A, B parts of the flap. Our chapter has a brake so I decided to do this there instead of trying to do this in the shop. I marked the bend line and made sure to identify the left and right ones correctly. I bent the parts as close as possible to required 6.3deg and adjusted the bend at assembly on FL704 rib.
I clamped both A, B parts together and positioned them against the spar and rib. I then match drilled and clecoed part A through the spar. The part B has all the holes pre punched but I almost messed up here. I didn't follow the instruction to pin the end hole of part B to the matching hole in the end rib but instead lined up the parts by eye. Fortunately I must have a calibrated eye since after drilling parts together, the datum hole was off by just a bit.....lucky for me. I made sure to do this correctly on next flap.
The end hole is then enlarged to 1/4" to attach the rod end bearing. I then disassembled the left flap to deburr and smooth parts before parts are ready for Alumiprep and Prime.
