Brief Description:  Finishing Right elevator

Big day again. Its always great to get to this point but it does require a lot of thought and checking it twice to make sure everything is done correctly internally before closing up. Many builders have forgotten to add the RTV as specified by Van. After adding RTV to rivet on of one skin, I decided to flip it over and add RTV to other skin as well to make sure that the RTV is smothered between the top and bottom skin. I don't have a picture but after everything was done, I checked the ends and I could see that the RTV was filling the space between the two TE rivets but none leaked to the TE radius which is exactly what you want so that any water that accumulates can find a path out of the elevator. After this task, I clecoed everything back together and riveted the elevator. I completed all the riveting except the last 3 rivets at the trailing edge at each end, top and bottom ( 12 rivets in all) because I didn't have a small enough bucking bar to reach in the tight space and I refuse to use pull rivets unless absolutely necessary. I called my good friend and RV8 builder Steve Ashby to borrow a small bucking bar.
