Well, the time has come to seal up the space behind the instrument panel. No more easy access to the back of the avionics, or reaching down to the back of the firewall.
I fitted the mesh air vents and Angle of Attack head-up display to the skin, then cleco'd the skin in place, but initially just a row down the middle. This way I could do the rivetting down the centre by lifting the skin either side and reaching in under with the bucking bar.
With the centre row of rivets done I then cleco's the skin in place fully. In doing so I noticed that I haven't yet painted the underside where it shows at each side. Bugger, I'll have to lift it later and spray it grey. At the moment it's just the horrible primer colour.
I also fitted the GPS receiver for the back-up Horis PFD. It's just a little black plastic box with a wire that passes through the glareshield and runs to a connection at the back of the Horis. The sensor just mounts to the skin with double sided tape. I've got an idea for this ....but that can wait until tomorrow.
