Brief Description:  1: Park Brake Valve

Today I continued on with fitting of my parking brake valve. I made the bracket shown below from pieces of aluminum from my scrap box, and it's designed to fit over top of where the bracket was for the bulkhead brake line fittings. This parking brake valve will now take the place of those fittings, and serve as the "junction" for the lines from the pedals, and the lines out to the brake calipers.

I wanted to make sure I couldn't operate the valve more than the recommended 90 degrees, so I made up an angle piece with a v-shaped cutout as shown below.

Also, the two rivet holes in the centre of the largest piece needed to be countersunk to allow double-flush riveting....flush on the firewall side, and flush on the inside to allow the valve body to sit flat. It worked out well.

I could have made this bracket with just two pieces, but I also added a spacer, just to get the centreline of the fittings spaced out the same as the bracket that was removed.

Once riveted in place, and the valve bolted up (using the rubber washers supplied), I then started fabricating another bracket for the control cable clamp. I'll finish this off tomorrow night.
