Another small job that got done today was installation of the short section of fuel line that runs between the boost pump and the firewall. I spent only 20-30 minutes on this, but while working here I discovered that when flaring the tube ends I am supposed to use a light oil to help make a nice smooth flare. I inspected a couple of my tube flares up close with a magnifying glass and found that the surface was quite rough, so much that I doubt I would get a very good seal.
I pondered this for a while, then decided to take out all my tubing that I'd done to date and re-flare the ends....using a light oil. The flares turned out much better.
When reassembling everything I also used Proseal thread sealant on all the fittings. I really do not want fuel or brake fluid leaking all over my cockpit floor.
Fuel line is now run to the firewall
All fittings got a lick of thread sealant when reassembled
