Brief Description:  2: Flap Position Sensor

The standard kit comes with no provision for mounting a flap position sensor, so today I started the task of making something up. I think I will need two position sensors, one for the flap position indicator that I will mount on the instrument panel, and a second sensor wired to the Angle of Attack system (flap extension changes the wing chord line, and therefore affects the angle of attack).

I started by working out suitable anchor points. My Ray Allen POS-12 sensor has a full range of motion of just 30mm, so I need to make up a bracket of some sort that will allow adjustment of just under this range.

I also decided on a hinge-style bracket that will allow the sensor to "rotate" with the arc of the flap actuator arm.

Although not yet finished, the bottom picture should give some idea of my concept. I just need to fit some anchor points on the flat plate mounted to the actuator arm, and then attach a short linkage.
