Next up today I got a start on the flap actuator. After making up the nylon block that serves as the centre mount, I then drilled the small hole in the end of the flap motor shaft. This is a requirement under Vans Service Bulletin SB07-04-11 and prevents the lock nut from coming loose. The smallest drill bit I had was 1/16" (0.0625"), so I'll need to get some large diameter safety wire for this. The hole itself was a lot easier to drill than I was expecting.
Next I fitted the nylon blocks to each end of the actuator weldment and bolted in place. I used the holes I'd drilled in the centre mounting block as a guide for drilling the bolt holes in the centre tunnel rib flange. I then took the actuator out again so I could drill and rivet a couple nutplates in place.
With this all done I then bolted the actuator back into place, hopefully for the final time.
I finished the day by getting a start on making the various small pieces that form part of the flap motor mounting arrangement.
The flap actuator rod end has been drilled, ready for safety wire, as per Vans SB07-04-11

To fit the middle mounting block you must first install a couple nutplates
