A great day for building today, and I made some more progress. I finished off the cover that runs between the wing spar and the firewall. I think fuel and brake lines run underneath this. I just needed to match drill and install a few nutplates in the floor ribs so the cover can be screwed down. That wasn't so hard. I also drilled and installed a couple nutplates in the firewall recess box. That shouldn't have been hard, but I seemed to make it so. I slipped with the rivet gun and managed to make a bit of a mess, but I hammered it out and it's not too bad now.
I'm pretty sure I'll be scrapping the box that covers the fuel valve. I want to make some sort of narrow centre console, but haven't quite got it worked out in my head yet. For now I'll leave the covers exactly as per the plans, and come back later.
Match drilling the screw holes for the centre section floor cover.
This is how I dimpled the holes on the stainless steel firewall recess
This part is now finished, although I suspect I'll come back to this as I think about a centre console
