Brief Description:  Right Side Step

Was quite a slow day today. Yesterday I hurt my back while bending down and cutting out the floor rib hole. Very sore today, so I limited myself to finishing off the right step only (no further cutting/sanding needed on this one).

I bent the step mounting flange to suit the curvature of the fuselage skin....well, best as I could anyway. There's quite a decent gap underneath, right behind the step support itself, so that cannot be bent. I'll need to fill with some epoxy filler later. From the top, however, the fit is quite good.

After getting the bend right (I just used a big shifter) I then drilled all my holes out to 1/8" and deburred. I also primed the external skin, internal surfaces, and the step itself.

When properly dried I spread some tank sealant on the external skin, to prevent moisture getting in under the mounting plate, and then cleco'd the step in place.

I'll let the sealant set before riveting in place.

While the primer was drying I also spent some time studying up the Dynon Skyview system manual, working out where I'm going to mount the GPS receiver, VHF Com, Transponder, and associated antenna. Next step will be to get the floors done, so I need to be planning my cable runs first.
