Brief Description: 1: Firewall Parts
|
|
I'm pretty well done with the wings for now, so today I turned my attention to the fuselage.
After stacking the wings away in their cradle, and giving the workshop a bit of a clean up, I started by making up a few of the parts that attach to the firewall. The brake line bracket was pretty straight forward as it was already pre-made. I just needed to match drill it to the firewall, then deburr, smooth and prime, ready to rivet in place tomorrow.
There is a doubler plate required for mounting of the fuel pump, which I needed to make from scratch. The nutplates are a little confusing on this plate as they're actually mounted on the forward side of the firewall, whereas the doubler plate is on the back side. Anyway, once I got my head around that then I match drilled, deburred, smoothed and primed. Another piece to rivet in place tomorrow.
Next up I match drilled the firewall recess box. Apparently this is required to allow room for the prop governor (if I have one) and oil filter. Although I've got it all ready to rivet into place, the instructions recommend leaving it out for now to allow easier access to other parts.
