Next job today was properly mounting the engine controls bracket to the underside of the instrument panel.
First I clamped the bracket in place and made sure it was centred on the panel. Then I match drilled three holes on the bottom flange of the instrument panel. With the bracket removed I then fitted nutplates to the instrument panel flange, which allowed me to then bolt the bracket in place.
When I get my new, machined, engine controls bracket then all I need to do is drill three mounting holes in the top edge, to match my template, and bolt it in place. The guy at the local machine shop says he should have my bracket done sometime next week.
