Brief Description:  3: Started Mounting Avionics

With the front deck all rivetted together I then started on the fun part, mounting the avionics. I need to find a home for the following:
* Vertical Power VP-X
* VHF Radio
* Engine Management System
* AoA Control Unit
* AoA I/O Module
* Skyview EFIS Battery BackUp
* Skyview Network Hub
* Stall Warning Electronics Board

There's really only one spot that the VP-X will fit, so I started with that, fitting six nutplates to hold it in place. I then decided that the space under the map box would be ideal for the VHF Radio. Connections are on the correct side, and it's away from other potentially noise-inducing equipment. To mount it, however, I had to drill out a few of the round-head rivets and replace with flush ones. I also made up a small spacer piece for the right side, so the box sits flat on the panel.

Once the top skin is in place then access to avionics will be through the two Skyview cut-outs. Either that or from underneath, laying on the floor, but that was hard enough as a teenager working on my old XW Falcon, let alone as a 50+ yo with the flexibility of an I-beam!
