You wouldn't guess from the picture, but I spent two hours this morning marking out exact positions of the major instrument panel avionics.
The software that I've been using to design my panel layout has a serious flaw in that the scaling of components is inaccurate. When I started measuring up the actual panel, with real dimensions, then I've found that my twin 10" Dynon system will have less room to spare than I thought.
There's also not quite enough room at the bottom of the panel for the switches I've selected (Honeywell AML series), so I'm going to get a new, deeper, panel made up. I think I'll also get the new panel laser cut while I'm at it, to make sure the cut-outs are as accurate as possible.
I'm also now gathering quite a bit of expensive avionics equipment in my little shed, so I thought I might take pictures of all the serial numbers, just in case.
