More hours of filling the elevator tips with epoxy, and then sanding smooth, this time on the very ends. I borrowed a cordless orbital sander from a work mate which certainly made life much, much easier. I found I could use a finer, 120 grit paper, get done in half the time, and with half the effort. I gotta get myself one of these.
My open-bottom drawing trolley (second picture below) came in handy for standing the elevators upright while I applied filler to the tip ends.
