Well, after two weeks away from the workshop I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms. I thought it best I deal with that by spending a little time tonight after work getting on with the elevator wing tips.
I'd already notched the trailing edge of the left fibreglass wingtip so that it fit neatly into the end of the elevator, so tonight it was a simple matter of match drilling the fixing holes (using the holes in the elevator skin as a guide), countersinking, and blind riveting into place.
I was in Adelaide last weekend and picked up some West System resin, hardener, and filler. I'll use this to fair the edges of the wing tip surfaces, however I've never done any work with resin before so will perhaps have a trial run on some scrap pieces of aluminium first. Might have a go at that tomorrow ...... if I can get out of work early enough.
Note to self: find a high-paying job where I don't have to turn up, and can spend all day building aeroplanes instead.
