Brief Description:  2: Right Elevator Wing Tip

After test fitting the elevators, and verifying that clearances and movement of both was all good, we then took them both off again to fit the wing tips.

I figured that once the tips are on, then there's no getting them off again, so I got myself some metallic epoxy filler and filled in the bolt head and nut recesses in the lead counterweights. Although they're held in with nyloc nuts, I figured there's no harm in adding a bit more security against them ever coming loose. Last thing I want is a counterweight breaking loose and rolling around in the wing tip while turning final.

Next I trimmed the fibreglass wing tips so they fit as neatly as I could get them, before match drilling all attachment holes. I then countersunk, dimpled and sanded where necessary and, using blind rivets, attached the tip to the right elevator.

I'm not real happy with the neatness of the fit so, like many other builders, I'll be smoothing the whole wing tip area with filler of some sort later.
