Brief Description: 2: Assembling the Right Elevator
This afternoon I got started on assembling the right elevator. First up, I riveted the nut plate stiffeners onto the spar, and then I riveted the right counterbalance arm together.
There's quite a few rivets holding the counterbalance arm skin piece in place, and I want these to look as unobtrusive as possible (a whole heap of rivets in a small space always looks like a patch job to me), so I spent some time going over all the dimpled rivet holes in the skin piece with the countersink cage, just taking a tiny bit off so the rivet heads sit perfectly flat.
After riveting the assembly together I touched up any bucking bar scratches I inadvertently created.
It's nudging 40C now, so time to go and cool off.
That's a nice lot of rivets holding on of the elevator attachment points
