Brief Description: Continued Alodining Elevator Stiffeners
Had a bit of time tonight so thought I'd keep the build clock ticking over by doing a bit more alodining. I got the remainder of the elevator stiffeners done.
Since all parts are match drilled to suit their respective locations, I needed to be very careful about keeping them all arranged in such a way that I knew which part was which at all times.
When match drilling I mark each piece with a specific ID number. Eg: RB3 is my way of identifying the Right Bottom stiffener, third from the wing root. RT# refers to Right Top, LB#, and LT# are the same but for the left side.
A problem arises, however, when preparing the parts with isopropyl alcohol. The markings rub off. I therefore keep the parts all neatly laid out on top of a sheet of cardboard upon which I write the part number. I then treat them with alumibrite and alodine, all the time keeping them neatly laid out in order. Once the alodine has dried off then I rewrite the ID number back on each part.
The remainder of the stiffeners now alodined
All parts numbered so I know which ones go where when reassembling
