Brief Description: Countersinking the Rudder Trailing Edge Wedge
Tonight I spent some time after work countersinking the rudder trailing edge wedge piece. I took my time setting up the countersink cage on a piece of scrap, and then had all sorts of trouble replicating a proper countersink on the actual wedge piece. My countersinks were not deep enough.
After a little while I realised that because the wedge is .... well .... wedge shaped, the circular nylon face of the drill cage could not sit flat on the surface to be drilled.
What I ended up doing was to use the second aluminium wedge piece that Vans supply (I haven't worked out what this is for yet) to square up the piece to be drilled. My second picture below shows how.
Simple, hey, and worked a treat.
I also finished smoothing and deburing all the other rudder parts as well tonight, so now I'm ready to alodine and prime.
