Brief Description:  2: Rudder Assembly and Dimpling

With the stiffeners riveted to the skins I could now progress with assembly of the rudder. I cleco'd the skins in place, including the trailing edge wedge, and was quite suprised at just how rigid the whole assembly became.

After match drilling all holes it was then time to disassemble the parts and start on the boring part of deburring, dimpling, smoothing, and whatever-else-ing. I need to find myself some cheap labour to do this part while I grab a beer ... er .. bottle of water .... and contemplate more important aspects of the build :-)

There was an aweful lot of holes to dimple. I did the spar and ribs with my hand dimpler, and used the c-frame on the skins.

See next post for how I dimpled the trailing edge holes in the bottom rib. Very difficult to get to.
