Brief Description:  1: Assembling vertical stabiliser

After a couple weeks away from the shed it was good to finally get back and get on with my build again, despite the oppressive heat here in the outback at present (today is our fourth straight day of 46C).

Anyway, before the heat really set in I got into assembly of the vertical stabiliser. The simple wood support stands I made previously for the HS spars came in very handy again today. Just a minor modification to one and they were perfect for holding the VS spars while I rivetted the various components together.

The rear spar was quite straight forward, and went together very easily. The front spar, however, was a bit harder. The bottom three rivets that fix the large main rib, and nose rib, I found especially difficult. Anyway, after a couiple expletives (which always seem to help, somehow), and a few bucking bar scrapes, I eventually got them done.

It's now 12:00 noon, and it's just hit 40C inside my shed, even with two air conditioners running. Time to call it quits I think.
