Brief Description: 2: Spray Painting
|
|
After alodining was complete I then set up a spray table at the front of the shed, mixed up about a quarter litre of epoxy two-pack primer, and set about spraying all the spar and rib pieces.
I've read some nasty things about two-pack paints so I made sure I was "kitted up" with disposable overalls, gloves, goggles and respirator. Forgot to get a picture, but I'm sure I looked sexy :-).
While I waited for the first side of all the pieces to dry enough to flip over and do the other side, I also dimpled the vertical stabiliser skin on the c-frame dimpler. I then rubbed the inside surface down with isopropyl alcohol and spray painted with acid etch primer.
I finished off the day by priming the back-side of all the rib and spar pieces. Everything is now ready for riveting together, however I'm in Adelaide all next week, so it's going to have to wait until I get back. Oh well, at least that'll give ample time for the paint to properly harden.
