Brief Description: Completed one side of the horizontal stabiliser
A big day today as I completed rivetting together the right side of the horizontal stabiliser. Good mate Peter Harkness loaned me an assortment of home made bucking bars that he used when building his RV-7A, and they certainly came in handy today. Some weird looking bits of steel with handles welded to them, but they sure worked a treat. Thanks Pete.
Although there were a few difficult rivets (one took me six attempts to get right), I did manage to set the majority without too much trouble. Just might have to get some touch-up primer when down in Adelaide next as I've taken a bit of "bark" off in a few spots on the inside surfaces. Nothing of concern structurally, but I would prefer any exposed aluminium were touched-up, even if it is alodined underneath.
Starting to look like a plane part
Amazing how it all comes together. Well done Vans!
