Even though the bottom cowl did not sit flush against the bottom of the firewall, I was still able to work out an accurate trim line nonetheless.
Armed with my second Dremel (I burnt out my first one last week), I trimmed away just short of my measured cut line, sanded back the cut edges, then test fitted the bottom cowl again. Although it's not yet finished, it is starting to take shape.
