Today I started on the bottom cowl, and first thing to do was trim away part of the flange that nests inside the top cowl. The first picture below shows where.
Next I carefully marked and cut out the slot for the nose gear leg, noting that I need to cut an extra inch-or-so because I have a three-blade prop. While pondering the drawings for this aspect I also noticed that I might have an issue with parts supplied to attach the very bottom of the cowl to the firewall. I have the new engine mount that incorporates the nose gear leg shock absorber, and the parts I have are for the old style mount. Am going to contact Vans and seek some advice.
