Brief Description:  1: Oil Seperator Doubler Plate

Pulling out the other gear leg weldment is such a bugger of a job I decided to tackle it in small, 30-minute, bursts today. No photos of that, save to say it's about half done.

In amongst wrestling with the weldment, I decided to fit my oil seperator to the fire wall. I figured that the best way to do this would be to make up a doubler plate that's rivetted to the rear of the firewall, which also has a couple nutplates. This way it's easy to unbolt the seperator mounting bracket, plus the weight is better supported on the thin stainless steel wall.

The first picture below shows the doubler plate I made up, match drilling it to the front side for convenience. Once drilled I then deburred all the holes on the firewall and countersunk using a pop-rivet-style dimple die set. I then alodined and painted the doubler plate, fitted a couple nutplates, and rivetted it to the firewall.
