Brief Description:  1: Elevator and Stabiliser Tips

Time to tackle the dreaded resin work necessary to finish off the empennage. I removed the elevators and horizontal stabliser and am thinking, perhaps they won't be reinstalled now until final assembly.

I mounted the horizontal stabliser in its support frames so it was sitting vertically. This way, with the tips clecoed in place, I could pour in some resin and it would stay there without running. The second photo below shows a small piece of white plasticised tape wrapped around the rib. When the resin hardened then this tape acted as a release agent and I could then easily get the tip off.

Once the resin has hardened properly then I can set about sanding it smooth.

I also filled the vertical stablisier tip with resin, as well as started applying some fine fibreglass cloth over the join where the elevator tips meet the elevator surfaces. Very messy, and I'm sure will require quite a bit of sanding to get nice and smooth (groan).
