I noticed today that my chosen undefloor mounting location for the VHF radio unit is no good. When the aileron control rod is connected then it will foul on the radio case, preventing full travel, or worse, jam!
After much deliberation about what to do I decided to remove the mounting tray that I'd installed and screw the radio direct to the fuselage bottom skin. This would put it down low enough to not cause any interference with the aileron control rod. The only problem with this is that I now have four screw heads protruding from the otherwise smooth bottom skin of the fuselage. Not to worry, I'm sure it will cost me very little in airspeed.
To make this idea work I needed to fit nutplates to the SV-COM-425 case.

Nutplates fitted to the SV-COM-425 so it can be screwed in place from outside
