Brief Description: 2: Testing the Panel Switch Backlights
Before I pulled my "Take 1" switch wiring apart, I did connect up the circuit of backlights to my power supply to see what load will be drawn, and check the level of brightness.
Each switch has two globes, and with all globes connected (albeit with one not working - can you spot it?) the total draw from the power supply at full brilliance is just 1.4 amps (picture 1).
I note that the lamps are very bright, and when dimmed to what I think will be a good brightness for night flying, then the current draw will only be aorund 0.3 - 0.4 amps. Glad I bought a dimmer!
Full voltage applied, and the switch backlights are way too bright, even in daylight
Dimmed to 50% power, and probably still too bright for night time flying
Having a dimmer will allow just the right level of illumination
