Brief Description:  1: Panel Switch Wiring - Take 1

I spent the whole day today working on wiring for the panel switches, and in the end I scrapped the whole lot because I wasn't happy with how it was turning out.

Each switch has two independantly wired lamps, a positive and negative post for each, plus the actual switch contacts. I started by looping a black ground wire to every lamp, so two wires per switch. I then looped a white +12V wire to every lamp, so another two wires per switch. I now had an awful lot of wires looped all around.

Next I looked at the actual switching requirements. The VP-X switch inputs look for a ground signal (not +12V), so the common wire to each switch is therefore a ground. I therefore ran a second loop of ground wires to the common contacts of each switch. Now I had an absolute dogs breakfast of wiring, and it looked like shit.

I decided that this would not do, and surely I could come up with something a lot better, so I pulled all the wiring apart and tossed it on the floor.

I therefore ended the day at the same place that I started, save except for the experience.

Not happy with the "dog's breakfast" attempt, so this is where my days labour ended up - on the floor!
