Brief Description:  2: Rudder Cable

Another small job I worked on today (it's all about eating the elephant....one bite at a time) was the rudder cable sheath clamp and exit fairings.

The cushion clamps were a bugger to fit. Very difficult getting your hands down into the bottom of the tail section, through the aft deck, plus the clamp will not fit around the nylon sheath while it's in place. I needed to disconnect the cable from the rudder, pull it back inside the fuselage and place the clamp (by feel) around the wire rope only. Then I could slide the nylon sheath back through the exit hole, and through the cushion clamp while doing so. All done by feel.

I also alodined and primed the cable fairings, and primed the fuselage surface where they will attach. Want to make it as hard as possible for corrosion to get a foothold anywhere.

I'm going to fit the fairings with blind rivets as I can't see how I could get a bucking bar onto some of the rivets. This will be a small job for tomorrow perhaps.
