Brief Description: Landing/Taxi Lights
|
|
I've been looking for good landing lights for quite some time and the only product that I could find that incorporated a seperately switched taxi light into the landing light assembly was the Aveo Engineering range from Czech Republic. Great lights, but very expensive at over AU$1,000 each.
Well, last week I got a very nice suprise when I stumbled across a small Australian company called Flyleds. This guy makes aircraft lighting kits, and amongst his range of products is the awesome landing/taxi light combo shown below. AU$280 each is a massive saving, and better still, no freight charges because he ships from Melbourne.
I couldn't contain myself and just had to spend a couple hours tonight assembling the lights. The instructions are easy to follow, and the product very well made, so I had no difficulty putting it all together. Naturally I just had to hook it up to my 12V power supply as well....man, they're bright.
The top LED is angled down, has a different diffuser, and is switched independently to the others, making it a good taxi light.
I do know that this assembly is going to be difficult to install into the leading edge opening, but others have done it so I'll just have to remember that when choosing my "colourful words of encouragement". But that can wait for another time.

Note the different diffuser on the top light. It's also at a different angle to the others
