Brief Description:  1: Centre Console

Today I spent some time making a mock-up of my centre console. This is not a standard part of the RV-9A build, so I got myself a sheet of coreflute and a roll of duct tape and went to work.

The pictures below show the end result, and although I'm quite happy with how this section looks, I'm struggling to work out how to incorporate the fuel selector in such a manner as to not cramp my leg/knee room too much.

The fuel valve is quite a bit wider than the console, so any structure I build forward of my mock-up would need to widen out into the space where my legs will end up. It's also at a height that will result in banging of knees.

I'm not convinced that my full length centre console idea is going to work so well for my large frame and long legs. I'll sleep on it for a while, but suspect I may end up cutting it back in length so that it becomes a simple arm rest and centre storage compartment. No throttle quadrant.
