Brief Description:  AirVenture 2018

Took time out to again attend AirVenture in Oshkosh USA. Like last year, there was plenty of things to look at both in the air and on the ground, with an awesome airshow every afternoon, plus hundreds of exhibitors and forums to attend.

This year I attended a session on things to be aware of if installing a lithium-iron battery. I like the idea of increased cranking and discharge performance, so was particularly interested to hear of the additional protection systems that must be in place to guard against the increased risk of battery over-heating.

Some items that I bought this year included:
* Angle of Attack system from Alpha Systems, complete with I/O Module and HUD
* Andair fuel pump and filter
* Ray Allen trim indicator and flap position sensor
* Grypmat flexible tool tray
* Various small hardware items (nuts, bolts, washers etc)
* Various fluid line fittings
* Battery box
* Starter solenoid and master battery relay
* Ignition switch
* AntiSplat oil separator
* AntiSplat vertical stabiliser modification brackets
* Cleaveland oil door hidden hinge
* Replacement Duckworks landing light lens kit

As well as around $500 savings through show special pricing, I estimate I saved another $500 on shipping costs by bringing these parts back with me in my luggage. Not even close to covering the total cost of attending AirVenture, but at least it's something.
