Tonight I got to work on the internal rudder stop I bought from the guys at Flyboy Accessories during AirVenture 2017.
I was going to simply mount the stop on top of the top hinge bracket, as per the simplistic installation notes and photo on the Flyboys website, however when I trial fitted I realised this would make installing the hinge bolt near on impossible. I have therefore opted to install it in between the two hinges, as I'm guessing all builders would do.
After fitting it the first time I also realised that you need to trim the ends to get the required rudder travel. This meant taking the rudder off, cutting a bit off the stop, reinstalling and testing.....amd then again.....and then again....until it was trimmed sufficiently to allow 35 degrees maximum travel at the rudder. I'm a little out, but not by much.
Later I'll clean up the stop and bolt it in place for good. I need to use spacer washers when bolting it in so I don't close up the gap when doing the bolts up.
